Paul A. Czech

Founder / Managing Partner

 

Paul A. Czech is the founder and managing partner of Paul Czech and Associates. Paul received his Bachelor of Arts in Radio, Television and Film from Temple University in 1984 and his law degree from Temple University in 1992. Paul gained valuable experience working first for defense firm Marks, Kent, and O’Neil and then for plaintiffs firm Anapol, Schwartz, Weiss and Cohan. Mr. Czech is licensed to practice in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Massachusetts.

In addition, prior to becoming an attorney, Paul worked for the Philadelphia School District as a teacher and received a Letter of Commendation from the Superintendent of Schools for outstanding service and commitment. Paul is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey and Massachusetts Bar. He is an active member of the Philadelphia Bar Association, Albany Bar Association, NY State Bar Association, MA Bar Association, PA Bar Association, and the American Bar Association.

Paul is a trial attorney first and foremost. He has significant trial and litigation experience and has received substantial verdicts in the cases he has tried before Judges and Juries. Paul prides himself on having built a very successful general practice. His clients are long term and seek his legal counsel on a wide variety of legal issues including personal injury, MVA, family law and matrimonial issues, wills and estates, DUI-DWI-DWAI, medical malpractice, juvenile/adult criminal and corporations.

Paul's personal practice has expanded to cover the area of Entertainment Law to which he brings his substantial litigation background. His degree from Temple University and his work as a professional Property Master included numerous commercials, feature films and television productions in and around the Philadelphia area. It is this background that makes him uniquely qualified to communicate with and to understand the problems faced by entertainment businesses and individuals. Paul's entertainment experience is not limited to film. His music entertainment experience includes past ownership of a management company, YB Entertainment Group which in its heyday was home to several developing hip-hop and rock-n-roll performers. As CEO of Icarus Digital - a music download and subscription service - Paul developed a unique expertise and understanding of this rapidly changing segment of the music and entertainment industry. This expertise has caused Paul to be invited to speak on innumerable panels at various conferences. He has been invited to speak on Management, Publishing and Licensing. He speaks yearly at MIDEM which is the largest and most prestigious music business conference in the world and is held every January in Cannes, France. Paul represents record labels, recording artists, managers, and other entertainment business professionals. Paul has spoken to various classes at law schools and participated as a panelist at a variety of Entertainment related Symposiums including discussions on intellectual property, the arts, and the music business. Paul also moderates and hosts a monthly radio show produced by WAMC in Albany that has a variety of guests connected in and to the Entertainment business world.

All of Paul's clients appreciate that he has the ability and knowledge to negotiate matters but he can also police them and litigate when it becomes necessary to go to Court. This is particularly true with his Entertainment Law Clients.

 

Elisabeth A. Colbath

Associate

 

Elisabeth A. Colbath is a partner with the Law Offices of Paul A. Czech, PC. Elisabeth received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Saint Anselm College, in Manchester, New Hampshire in 1991. She received her Masters of Science in Clinical Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania in 1992. Elisabeth received her law degree from Temple University in 2002. She is currently working on her MBA via online curriculum at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Elisabeth gained valuable experience working as a legal assistant during law school first for Harkins Cunningham a corporate firm and then for Shrager, McDaid, Loftus, Flum and Spivey, a plaintiffs medical malpractice firm prior to joining The Law Offices of Paul A. Czech, PC as a law clerk. During law school Elisabeth also worked as a law clerk for the Honorable James DeLeon. Ms. Colbath is licensed to practice in Pennsylvania and New York. She is awaiting admission on Motion to the Massachusetts Bar.

Elisabeth was a licensed and practicing Psychologist prior to working in the legal field. She was well received by the Psychological and Psychiatric community prior to becoming an attorney and has published a significant number of articles in these areas.

Elisabeth has taken her psychology background and applied it vigorously to her family law cases. She is able to easily negotiate and resolve the inherent pitfalls and traps that one encounters in any matrimonial case particularly those involving Custody and Support. Elisabeth is also a certified mediator and has successfully mediated many child custody and support matters.

Elisabeth's focus is on Family and Matrimonial Law including Divorce, Custody, Support, Adoption as well as building a significant Estate and Business Management Practice. She also has a significant background in Real Estate Law and has represented countless clients in the successful sale and purchase of property.
